Cody Lynn Boyd
Cody Lynn Boyd
A young American singer-songwriter, Cody Lynn Boyd is heavily influenced by poets, rock icons, film, musicals and cartoons. Often, he is told to have a physical resemblance of the iconic Mick Jagger, Brian Jones and also Malcolm Mcdowell from Stanley Kubrick's The Clockwork Orange. However, his journey as a singer-songwriter only began once introduced to the work of Bob Dylan. His sound is a product of a large branch of inspirations, but continues to stem from his folk roots. Genre jumping while still maintaining his narrative, Boyd can be related to a long list of musical artists. His sound has been compared to Bob Dylan, Jim Morrison, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Nick Drake, Morrissey, Nick Cave, David Bowie and many more. Despite these comparisons, he has created a persona for himself by always wearing a black turtleneck, black jeans, and black boots. His nostalgic obsession with cartoon characters wearing the same thing every episode could be the culprit for his minimalist wardrobe. Boyd’s attraction to all things spooky is likely result of his interest in shows like The Twilight Zone, Goosebumps, Scooby-Doo Where Are You!, Courage the Cowardly Dog and many more. His interest in the surreal often shines through in his work, whether subtly or not, these elements are a key component in both his music and live performances.
